Privacy is a thing of the past. Any day now, your friends, your neighbors and the average man on the street may be able to know, in a matter of moments, who you are, the names of your pets, where you went yesterday, who you had lunch with, who you’re emailing, what you discussed, and any number of other personal matters.
Google Glasses are currently being tested, and availability to the public may be just around the corner. The user could conceivably point the camera at, say, subway passengers and use facial recognition software to inform them of their name, occupation and everything else, such as the time they wore an embarrassing outfit on a train.
What’s next? Undercover government agents could frequent public areas waiting on a red-light signal to alert them to the possibility that a passerby has been searching the internet for a particular weapon. Before we know it, we could end up being arrested for something we haven’t done, but something we could potentially do.
Our future may be getting a bit creepy.
